A lot of people talk about how important it is to service your vehicle in the fall and winter. They’re not wrong–the colder weather can do a number on mechanical parts. However, spring auto maintenance is important, too. After winter ends, following up with routine service inspections, cleanings, and any necessary repairs can undo a lot of the wear and tear that comes with icy roads and hazardous weather. Here are some tips for giving your vehicle some much-needed spring cleaning.
Follow the manual: The owner’s manual for your vehicle should have a routine service schedule guideline. Have your vehicle brought up to speed with all of its necessary service.
Remove road salt: If you live in an area where the roads are salted in case of snow or ice, make sure you clean the salt off the undercarriage of your vehicle, which can cause lasting damage.
Fluid check: Oil changes are a big one and pretty popular this time of year, but have other fluids checked as well.
Alignment, suspension, and tires: Winter means potholes, which means potential damage to the alignment or suspension of your vehicle. Having this checked should be easy-peasy. Make sure to rotate your tires and check the pressure in them, too.
