Kids and adults look forward to Halloween all year long. Make the best of yours and stay safe this Halloween with these tips from Union Park Honda.
Dusk comes early in late October, so be sure that your children are wearing costumes with light colorsto keep them visible at night. Another option is to carry a flashlight or to wear a reflective vest.
Create a Safe Costume
Costumes themselves can be hazardous if you’re not careful. Costumes that are too long can cause a child to trip, or masks may potentially be too tight. Make sure your child feels comfortable walking around in their costume before heading out, and opt for makeup instead of masks to avoid any mishaps.
Stay in Groups
Never let your kids trick or treat alone. Send older kids in groups of two or more, and always send a chaperone with younger children.
Stay in the Light
Kids should only approach houses that are well-lit and familiar. Stay in street lights, if possible, and bring flashlights if you live in a rural area with limited lighting.
Respect the Sidewalks
Stay on the sidewalks, only cross at crosswalks, and beware of cars. You should respect pedestrian and traffic laws all the time, but it’s especially important to do so during trick-or-treat night.
From all of your friends at Union Park Honda, we hope you have a fun and safe Halloween!
