It’s hard to imagine a CEO of a major car company that doesn’t own their own car, but that actually is the case for Honda’s new CEO, Takahiro Hachigo.
Hachigo became the Honda CEO back in March, after spending years studying the automotive business overseas. Hachigo can definitely afford to purchase a vehicle, but said he is waiting for a particular Honda model that is being released this fall.
“Unfortunately, I don’t have a car now,” Hachigo told Automotive News (subscription required). “But I want to buy the Civic Type R.”
Honda said the Civic Type R will feature a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that is capable of producing 306 horsepower. The Japanese automotive brand also said the Civic Type R can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 5.7 seconds and will feature a top speed of 167 mph.
The much anticipated Civic Type R will be manufactured at Honda’s England assembly plant and is expected to be released to the US and Japanese markets this fall.
