The Honda Civic has always been the choice of vehicle for drivers who like sporty performance. Now, this is even more true thanks to the introduction of the 2018 Honda Civic Type R to the U.S. market.
The Civic Type R, which is made in the U.K., sits above the Civic Si in the model’s lineup — taking performance to an entirely new level.
On the outside.
The typical Civic style is enhanced by tall wings, a spoiler, and aggressive splitters, adding aerodynamics that only help the car’s chassis stay stable at high speeds. These features all come together to make the 2018 Civic Type R look just as athletic as it is — especially with a rumored top speed of 170 mph.
Under the hood.
The Type R has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which puts out an impressive 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission, sending this pumping power to the front wheels. Neither an automatic gearbox nor all-wheel drive is offered on this performance-oriented model.
The athletic features don’t stop there, either. The Type R is also outfitted with three-mode adaptive dampers to help control the suspension and a set of multi-piston Brembo brakes. If you add the specially offered Continental SportContact 6 tires, which are made for performance, then you have one machine that is primed to go.
The 2018 Honda Civic Type R is available now at Union Park Honda; stop by to test drive this sporty-performing ride.
